Sun's Free Developer Tools -- Now on Linux

A couple of weeks ago, Sun released a LOT of their software for free (beer).

Among the products that are now free are Solaris for x86 machines, and Sun Studio 11. If you haven't tried out Solaris on x86, you should look at it some time. It isn't quite the same as Linux, but it really isn't much different than moving from Fedora Core to Debian.

As for Sun Studio 11, this is Sun's developer suite. It comes with C, C++, and FORTRAN compilers and an IDE. I haven't looked at the Linux version yet. Look here for downloads.

If Java is more your bent, then the NetBeans IDE is also available here.
